Soft Wash vs. Pressure Wash
A pressure washer aimed at siding forces water behind trim, strips paint and etches stucco. Aimed at shingles, it takes the granules off.
Soft washing uses almost no pressure. Instead of blasting the growth off, we apply a cleaning solution, sodium hypochlorite mixed with soap, that kills algae, mold and mildew at the root. Then we rinse it away gently. The chemistry does the work, not the force.
Pressure still has its place. On concrete driveways, sidewalks and pool decks, pressure with a surface cleaner is the right tool. See pressure washing.
Why It Matters in Jacksonville's Climate
Humidity, regular rain and shade keep exterior surfaces damp, and damp surfaces grow algae, mold and mildew year round. Because soft washing kills the growth rather than knocking the top layer off, it stays gone longer.
How Soft Washing Works, Step by Step
1. Walk-through
We note anything that needs attention: plants that need protecting, fixtures, anything fragile.
2. Apply and dwell
We apply the soft wash solution and let it dwell long enough to kill the growth.
3. Low-pressure rinse
We rinse from top to bottom with low pressure.
4. Rinse the landscaping
We rinse plants and landscaping before and after, as a matter of course.
We use your outdoor spigot for water.
Soft Washing FAQ
How often should I soft wash my house?
Once a year for most Jacksonville homes. Heavily shaded homes, or homes near woods or water, may need it sooner.
Is it safe for my plants and pets?
The solution is the same family of chemistry used to sanitize a swimming pool, diluted and mixed with soap, and it's rinsed off completely. We rinse landscaping before and after. Keep pets inside while we work.
How long does it take?
Most house washes take a few hours, depending on size and how much growth there is. We'll tell you at the estimate.
Will the green come back?
Eventually, because this is Florida. But it takes far longer than after a pressure wash, and a yearly cleaning keeps ahead of it.
