Paver Repair and Sealing in Atlantic Beach
Atlantic Beach (32233) mixes older beach cottages east of Mayport Road, ranch homes in Selva Marina and newer infill near the Atlantic Beach Country Club and Johansen Park. Paver driveways, courtyard walks and pool decks here live a tough life: salt air, blowing sand, sandy native soil and heavy summer rain. When pavers sink, shift or lose their joint sand, start with a repair, then seal to protect it.
We’re Jax Exterior Cleaning & Paver Sealing, licensed and insured and repairing and sealing pavers since 2019. paver repair is our specialty, and we serve Atlantic Beach, Selva Marina, Royal Palms and the rest of the Beaches.
What Salt Air and Sand Do to Pavers
Coastal pavers fail in different ways than pavers inland. These are the problems we see most near the ocean.
Joints scoured out by wind and rain
Fine beach sand blows in while the original joint sand washes out. Joints end up loose, pavers start to rock, and edges begin to spread. We clean the joints out, refill with silica joint sand and seal to lock it in.
Sunken spots over sandy soil
Atlantic Beach sits on loose, sandy soil that shifts when water runs under the pavers. Low spots form near downspouts, A/C pads and the street apron. We lift the section, rebuild and compact the base and reset it level.
Salt haze and faded color
Salt spray leaves a white film and speeds up fading on unsealed pavers. A deep cleaning removes the film, and a quality sealer helps the color hold up against UV and salt.
Older cottage walkways and driveways
Many homes off Plaza, Ocean Boulevard and Seminole Road have pavers that are 15 to 20 years old. Borders give out and whole sections creep. We reset and lock the edges so the repair lasts.
Pool decks by the ocean
Salt-water pools plus ocean air are hard on paver and travertine decks. We reset lifted pieces flush and use a non-slip, matte-finish sealer.
How a Repair Works
A free look first, about 5 to 10 minutes, and you don’t have to be home. Then we remove only the damaged area, fix the base, reset level, clean, re-sand with silica joint sand and seal.
Sealing Is the Next Step at the Beach
On the coast, sealing is not just about looks. It keeps joint sand from blowing and washing out, slows weeds and ants, and gives the surface a layer of protection against salt and sun. Our paver sealing comes with a 3-year sealer warranty, and repairs carry a 60-day craftsmanship guarantee.
Repair or Replace? Usually Repair
A tired-looking beach driveway usually doesn’t need to come out. Pavers themselves stand up well to salt; it’s the base and joints that fail. Resetting the bad section and sealing the whole area costs far less than replacing it. If a section is truly beyond repair, we’ll tell you plainly.
Signs it is time to call: sand washing onto the driveway after rain, pavers that rock underfoot, dips by downspouts and edges pulling away from the yard.
Choosing a Finish
Many Atlantic Beach homeowners like a natural matte finish that fits the beach look. A wet look brings out color on driveways. Pool decks and travertine get matte by default. Colored joint sand is available as an upgrade. We never use polymeric sand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does salt air ruin pavers?
Not the pavers themselves, but it fades color and leaves a film, and wind and rain pull the joint sand. Sealing helps with all three.
Why does my driveway keep losing sand?
Wind, heavy rain and an unsealed surface. We refill with silica joint sand and seal to hold it in place.
