Repair First, Seal Second, in RiverTown

RiverTown sits along the St. Johns River in St. Johns County, and its newer homes have plenty of paver driveways, courtyards and pool decks. Being close to the river means moisture, and moisture means joints that wash out and surfaces that turn green in the shade. When pavers shift or sink, the fix is a repair. Sealing comes after, to protect it.

Jax Exterior Cleaning & Paver Sealing is licensed and insured and has been repairing and sealing pavers since 2019. paver repair is what we do best, and RiverTown is inside our regular service range. It is north of World Golf Village, which is our southern cutoff.

Paver Repairs We Handle in RiverTown

Moisture, settling and heavy use cause most of the problems we see in riverside neighborhoods.

Sunken sections in low-lying areas

Spots where water collects after a storm soften the base underneath. The pavers above slowly sink. We lift them, rebuild the base and reset them level so water runs off.

Algae and slick surfaces

Shade and humidity keep some pavers damp most of the day, which grows algae and makes walkways slippery. We clean thoroughly and seal to slow regrowth.

Empty joints, weeds and ants

When joint sand washes out, weeds and ant hills move in and pavers start to loosen. We refill with silica sand, or colored sand as an upgrade, and seal over it.

Raised pavers and trip hazards

A single lifted paver on a walkway or pool deck can trip someone. We reset raised pavers flush with the rest of the surface.

Cracked or chipped pavers

We replace damaged pavers and, for most common installations, can source matches. Cleaning and sealing helps new pavers blend in.

How We Do It

We start with a free look, about 5 to 10 minutes, and you don’t have to be home. Then we remove only the damaged pavers, fix and compact the base, reset them level, clean, re-sand and seal.

Repair or Replace? Usually Repair

A lot of homeowners assume uneven pavers mean starting over. Most of the time they do not. Pavers are built to be lifted and reset. The pavers are usually fine, and what failed is the base or the joint sand. Fixing that section costs far less than replacing the whole surface, and after cleaning and sealing it blends in.

Watch for these signs: water standing in the same spot after rain, pavers that rock or click when you step on them, sand washing onto the driveway, and gaps along the edges. Any of these means it is time for a repair before the problem spreads.

Choosing a Sealer Finish

You can go with a natural, matte look or a wet look that deepens the color. Pool decks and travertine get a matte-finish sealer by default so they are protected without being slick. Colored joint sand is an upgrade that can match or contrast with your pavers, and it is worth checking your HOA guidelines first.

Why Seal After a Repair

In a damp environment, unsealed joints lose sand fast. Sealing binds the sand, keeps out weeds and ants, and makes the surface easier to keep clean. Our paver sealing has a 3-year sealer warranty, and repairs are backed by a 60-day craftsmanship guarantee.

HOA and Gated Communities

RiverTown has an HOA, and we regularly work in gated and HOA communities. A repair puts your existing pavers back in place. If you want a new look, like colored joint sand or a glossy finish, check your HOA guidelines first. We can provide product details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn’t here, give us a call.

Is RiverTown in your service area?

Yes. RiverTown is north of World Golf Village, which is our southern cutoff, so it is inside our regular range.

Why do my pavers stay green?

Shade and moisture let algae grow quickly. Cleaning followed by sealing keeps the surface cleaner longer and makes future cleanings easier.

Do I need a repair or just sealing?

If pavers have sunk, lifted or rock underfoot, that is a repair. If they are level but faded or low on sand, a clean, re-sand and seal is usually enough.

What kind of sand do you use?

Silica joint sand, with colored joint sand as an upgrade.

How long does it take?

Most repairs take a day. If we seal too, allow 24 to 48 hours of cure time before driving on it.
