Paver Repair and Sealing in Deerwood
Deerwood, on Jacksonville’s Southside off Baymeadows Road, is an established gated community with big trees, large lots and plenty of paver driveways, walkways and pool decks. Mature trees and older installations are the two biggest causes of paver damage, and Deerwood has plenty of both. When pavers lift, sink or loosen, start with a repair, then seal to protect it.
We’re Jax Exterior Cleaning & Paver Sealing, licensed and insured and repairing and sealing pavers since 2019. paver repair is our specialty, and we serve Deerwood and the surrounding Southside neighborhoods.
Paver Problems in an Established Neighborhood
In older, tree-heavy neighborhoods, the damage tends to come from below.
Root-lifted driveways and walkways
Large trees send roots under paver edges and push sections into ridges. We remove the raised pavers, correct the base and reset them flat. If the root is still growing, we’ll talk through your options honestly.
Settled base on older installs
After many years, the base under a driveway can compact or wash out, leaving dips and puddles. We rebuild the base and reset the pavers level.
Green, slippery pavers under the canopy
Heavy shade keeps pavers damp. We clean off algae and mildew, then seal to slow regrowth.
Failing borders
When an old edge restraint gives out, pavers spread and joints open. We reset and lock the border.
Uneven pool decks and patios
Backyard pavers settle near drains and pool edges. We reset them flush so the deck is safe again. Travertine gets a matte-finish sealer.
How a Repair Works
A free look first, about 5 to 10 minutes, and you don’t have to be home. Then we remove only the damaged area, fix the base, reset level, clean, re-sand with silica joint sand and seal.
Sealing Protects the Repair
Once the structure is fixed, sealing keeps the joint sand in place, slows weeds and ants, and protects the color. Under heavy trees it also makes the surface easier to keep clean. Our paver sealing has a 3-year sealer warranty, and repairs carry a 60-day craftsmanship guarantee.
Working in a Gated Community
We regularly work in gated and HOA communities. Just let us know how gate access works when you book. If you’re changing the look with colored sand or a glossy finish, check your HOA rules first, and we can give you product details.
Repair or Replace? Usually Repair
In an older neighborhood, it is easy to assume a worn paver driveway needs to be replaced. Most of the time it does not. The pavers themselves are durable, and what usually fails is the base underneath or the sand in the joints. Lifting and resetting the damaged section costs far less than a new driveway, and the original pavers keep the look your home has always had.
After many years outside, original pavers have weathered, so any replacement pavers may look a little different at first. A full cleaning and sealing helps everything blend. If a section truly is beyond repair, we will tell you plainly.
Signs it is time to call: puddles in the same spot after rain, pavers that rock underfoot, ridges near trees, and edges pulling away from the lawn. Each one gets worse with time, so earlier is cheaper.
Choosing a Finish
You can go with a natural matte look or a wet look that brings out color. Pool decks and travertine get a matte finish by default. Colored joint sand is an upgrade, and in a gated community it is worth checking your HOA guidelines first.
